Re: Restoration of faculties and proper assignment as an active priest. Archbishop Lipscomb, It is now approaching ten months since I last wrote you and you have not yet responded. I have not only always been available for assignment, but have asked for assignment both verbally and in writing. I find that I am again listed as absent without leave on the annual retreat roster. The statement is both untrue and unjust and I ask for your immediate public correction. I am still awaiting your response to my previous correspondence. In order to save your time looking through your files, which may well be buried on your desk, I have enclosed copies of our previous correspondence. Your failure to respond is no different than that of the scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees who failed or refused to respond to questions they did not want to answer. Men of this nature, who fail to repent, will no doubt be condemned to Hell for all eternity. Their minds remained closed to truth as apparently is yours. To be absolutely clear, my obedience and allegiance to you is subordinated to my obedience and allegiance to our Lord and Savior Jesus as known through the formal teachings of the Church and associated with developed reasoning. Just as Peter and the Apostles were obedient to God rather than to man, so also do I give my primary obedience to God rather than to you.
“When they had brought them in and made them stand before the Sanhedrin, the high priest questioned them, "We gave you strict orders (did we not?) to stop teaching in that name. Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and want to bring this man's blood upon us." But Peter and the apostles said in reply, "We must obey God rather than men.” ” (Acts 5:27-29) In case you are wondering how I am financially able to keep going in view of my last correspondence, I am now in credit card and other short term debt in the amount of approximately $47,000.00. It seems that I will soon need to auction off my remaining property, other than what I am living on, at perhaps as little as one-third its cost. I have already taken a substantial loss on other property I have been forced to sell. If Catholics and others were not practicing so much birth control, against God’s will, I probably would have been able to sell the land at a profit. Your failure and the failure of the priests of the diocese to adequately teach against all methods of birth control and the contraceptive mentality is and will continue to be the cause of many going to Hell. Note: Population growth in Mobile County in the last few years has been approximately one and one-half percent, well below what it should be. People require clarity in religious leadership from bishops and their priests. In many respects such clarity is not only being ignored, but seems to be deliberately avoided in regard to Catholic teachings and just discipline. An extra enclosure is a recent document I have written regarding the value of the human spirit in relation to the body. Perhaps if the necessity for an extended body/spirit relationship – in order for a person to have the benefit of the fullest possible relationship with God– would be better understood, then the value of righteous human life would be better appreciated. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. David C. Trosch
P.S.In your letter of September 15th you expressed concern in regard to a statement of mine in relation to Judge Raymond Novak. It has come to my attention that Judge Novak is a former Jesuit priest and allegations have been made that he is both a sodomite and a child molester. To your knowledge is this the reason that was behind his leaving the priesthood? Of particular interest is the similarity between a statement of yours and one of his. Judge Novak stated, “You believe that you are following the law of God, and I am sworn to uphold the laws of man, Novak told (Joan Andrews) Bell.” (Associated Press) In your keynote address, entitled “Unjustifiable Homicide,” given to the Florida Conference of Pro-Life Coordinators in Pensacola, Florida on September 9, 1994 you made the following statement, “Sadly, in opposing abortion we are dealing with a recent legal reality which commands the support of the judiciary and law enforcement authorities. The freedom to abort unborn babies is simply the law of the land.” Judge Novak imprisons those who peacefully protest –Ghandi and King style– in order to stop murders of innocent unborn spiritual human beings, and states that he is upholding the “laws of man.” You say that those who desire to directly defend innocent human beings should not do so simply because the law of the land approves of this form of murder — The term murder in regard to abortion has been used by both yourself and by Pope John Paul II. You believe that the commands to support the judiciary and law enforcement authorities is binding over God’s law. You have made no outcry in regard to the death sentences given to Paul Hill because he broke unjust civil laws. It seems that you and Judge Novak have a common bond in that you both give preference to man’s laws over God’s laws. You both believe that murder sanctioned by civil governments should not be opposed except perhaps by purely humanistic means that favor born persons. Apparently you both believe that the murder of 16 million people during and before World War II by the Germans was acceptable because it was done at the command of lawful government officials. Do you also believe that the murder of Muslims in Kosovo and the current Muslim vengeance –Muslims are now in control of the area– against the Serbs is justifiable?
“And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.” (John 3:19-21 ) Enclosures: September 4, 1998 letter to Archbishop Lipscomb September 13, 1998 letter from Archbishop Lipscomb September 23, 1998 letter to Archbishop Lipscomb Joan Andrews Bell Web Page with reference to Judge Raymond Novak Life Advocate Magazine Web Page concerning Joan Andrews and Judge Novak Associated Press report on Joan Andrews and Judge Raymond Novak The Goal and Process of Creation (The Why of Life)
